Come and brush off the cobwebs at our first family function of the 2018 season. The Annual Club Open Day will be happening on Sunday 8th April commencing at 11.30am.
First call of the day will see the Promo One men and women squads dazzling the juniors with their sublime skills during some morning coaching clinics. The juniors will then get to display these newly acquired skills in a scratch match or two.
After this you will be able to witness our Luscious Lady Hawks racing up and down the field like the elegant gazelles that they are. Final match of the day will then see the Marquee Masters Men massacre the Mighty Metro Men, or so they say.
The day will culminate in a delicious spit roast dinner lovingly prepared by some of our club members. If this is all a bit too much excitement for you then the bar will be open from midday so you can have a drink or two to settle the nerves and dull the senses. The kitchen will also be open for light snacks during the afternoon.
We hope to see you all there on the day!!!

We are happy to announce that the head coach for the men’s this year is Todd D’Souza.
Todd started playing junior hockey at Victoria Park Xavier (VPX) up until the under 17s, where he then completed his final junior year at Aquinas Hockey Club. Whilst there, Todd had valuable access to Olympic and National players and throughout his development he gained invaluable experience and a solid foundation in Hockey at an elite level. These players included Debbie Bowman, Dean Evans, John Bestall and David Bell. These players have influenced Todd’s passion and have modelled his current coaching and leadership style.
Todd entered his senior playing career at VPX and quickly progressed through the grades before transferring to Fremantle Hockey Club playing second grade and Classic League (old school name for Melville Toyota League). He pursued his passion for coaching at 26 years of age in 1999 at Fremantle, before work took him to Kalgoorlie. Todd continued playing at the top level in Kalgoorlie before returning to Perth in 2004.
After a short break, he transferred to the Wheatbelt town of Bencubbin in 2009. His knowledge, passion and desire to coach allowed him to take the local ladies team to its first finals in his first year of coaching, as the team had not been in finals for 30 years. The development of the players was recognised by the association where Bencubbin started their journey to three Premierships in four years and consecutive finals appearances ever since.
Todd continued playing on and off for the next nine years and assisted in coaching juniors at Rockingham Red backs Hockey Club and Southern River.
Todd has stated the Southern River Hockey Club has a strong family foundation like VPX, which is the key to a successful club. He believes the Southern River Hockey Club is ready to take the next step in professional hockey.
Todd further stated having the opportunity to be the club’s senior coach is an honour and privilege and he looks forward to the challenges ahead.
We look forward to having Todd on board with the squad and look forward to the season ahead.
